Paddletek has been named the official paddle of the first US Open Pickleball Championships in Naples, Florida. Scheduled for April 26th – May 1st, 2016, this will be the largest pickleball tournament in the southeast and marks the first time a pickleball tournament will be filmed and then presented to a national television audience on a future CBS Sports broadcast.
“It was very exciting when Paddletek approached us about the Bantam EX-L being the Official Paddle of the US OPEN Pickleball Championships. I have always noticed so many of the Champions at Nationals were playing with a Paddletek paddle, so it was exciting to join forces with such a leader in the sport.” said Terri Graham, president of Spirit Promotions, the organization responsible for the inaugural event. With over 25,000 dollars in cash prizes, the US Open will draw top players from around the world.
In a recent interview with Paddletek, national champion Kyle Yates said, “The US Open Pickleball Championships is more than just a tournament. This will be a weeklong event. There will be so much to see and do. Not only will there be near 50 courts and upwards to 1,000 registered players, but with thousands of spectators and the stadium-seated court, this will be a grand slam event.”
When asked about his paddle of choice, Yates said, ”When I first tried Paddletek's Bantam EX-L I guess you could call it, ‘love at first volley’. I have felt very comfortable with how it plays and I feel it fits my game very well with its mix of power and control.” The Paddletek™ Bantam EX-L is the perfect paddle for players seeking a medium-weight full-size paddle with more power. It features the ProPolyCore2™ for optimum control, reduced vibrations, and a large sweet spot. The Bantam EX-L is only one of many premier American-made paddles offered by Paddletek.
In addition to watching and participating in some of the best pickleball matches that the Southeast has ever seen, spectators and players will have access to event parties, live entertainment, charitable fundraising opportunities, a wellness fair, and a kid’s day. Throughout the tournament players and spectators will also want to visit the US Open Village for great food and drink, live music every afternoon in the beer garden, and a variety of vendor booths. Join Paddletek for what is sure to be a tournament to remember for years to come!
